Our programs in Mauritania
Santé Sud has been working in Mauritania since 1991 through projects to strengthen health systems, focusing in particular on maternal and child healthcare.
Since 2018, the organisation has been running initiatives to combat sickle cell anaemia, as well as programmes promoting the integration of sexual and reproductive health services to strengthen the fight against HIV, TB, malaria and their co-infections using a gender approach.
Santé Sud is also developing projects to facilitate the implementation of Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT), with the aim of achieving the triple elimination of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B in pregnant women and their children.
This initiative aims to reduce morbidity and mortality among mothers and children in Mauritania. Santé Sud implements its projects in many regions of the country, mainly in Nouakchott, Nouadhibou, Trarza, Guidimakha and Assaba.
